Glee For Making Homosexuality Normal
by Michael A. Jones

Glee happens to be one of those shows, though forget a direct ticket to the underworld — Glee is practically a rocket ship of damnation. And for Bozell, there's one primary reason why Glee gets Satan salivating: it makes the practice of homosexuality normal.

Does the religious right have a problem with Glee portraying homophobic people as ... too mean? Sure seems like it. One leader is out with a call for Glee to treat the subject of homosexuality with more of a "love the sinner, hate the sin" mentality, instead of brutish, violent homophobia. Too bad there's just no sin to hate here.

The cause for the International Day Against Homophobia, its central topic of interest, the common theme that provides information for each of its endeavours remains a universal, multi-faceted and historical phenomenon: homophobia. In Canada, recognition, for lesbian and gay communities, has been first and foremost a judicial acceptance brought about by the adoption of the Charter of Human Rights. However, judicial advances will remain only that until a complete, unlimited social acceptance of homosexuality is achieved and homophobia wiped out. To achieve this goal, the Fondation Émergence proposed in 2003, along with partners, to hold each year a special day dedicated to the social recognition of homosexual experience.

First Same-Sex Parents Jointly Sign Birth Certificate
 By Ryan Holman

Lesbian couple Natalie Woods and Elizabeth Knowles are officially the first same-sex couple to jointly sign a birth certificate in Britain, reports theDaily Mail. Knowles was listed where the father's name would typically be on the birth certificate for their daughter, Lily-May Betty Woods.
The couple described the signing as "quite a milestone" at the Register Office in the English seaside city of Brighton where they live. Lily's birth certificate is the result of the 2008 Human Fertilization and Embryology Act, which removed the words "mother" and "father" from birth certificates, to the dismay of many antigay groups. Woods and Knowles are listed as Lily's "parents" instead.

Woods spoke to the press after the signing, saying, "It is fantastic. Compared to [going] through the courts, this is really straightforward, and the way it should be. ... It's also good that we don't have any of the worries and concerns of me being the only legal parent."
